Hello all...
Can someone help me out with some recording level issues I'm having trying to record guitar?
For home recording, what I have is a PODxt. I run that into a mixer. I listen to that through headphones and it sounds great. So I think my issue lies somewhere after that I'm thinking. I try to connect to my soundcard for recording with Calkwalk's Guitar Tracks 3. My laptop sound card (Conexant AC Link) does not have a line in, only a mic in...so I'd have to use that. When I do, and try recording the lower bass notes distort some. The input monitoring does not hit the peak though, so it seems like Guitar Tracks doesn't think the signal is too loud/high. So what I end up having to do is lower the input volume on the pod/mixer, but then the recording is too low/quiet. Is there something I'm missing in my laptops recording levels? Or is the mic input on my soundcard just not gonna work? Am I making sense here?
Another option with the PODxt is to go USB. But I seem to get the same issue with that and end up having to record at a lower volume and the output is kinda low. I don't think I have too much bass in the Pod setting, so I don't know what to try. Frustrating...please help! Thanks!
If it is my lousy soundcard, can someone suggest a good external soundcard that would do the trick??
