Village Idiot

The Love Butler
If anyone can walk me through this problem, I would appreciate it very much.

Here's the story....
I bought a Audiosport Quattro USB Audio Interface, not knowing that it was a MAC version only, and I have a PC.
I then called to tell them of my error, but they told me that a driver for a PC version woud be up on their site in a few weeks.
And I was told that the unit I have (MAC version) would be ok, that it would accept the PC driver for windows 98 just fine...

OK-Now it appears that the driver is up at the site (www.midiman.com). I downloaded it & tried to install it, but to no avail...

Why can't I get this thing to work? I have tried changing settings in the preferences boxes, it appears to recognise these installations, but nothing but the still existing fan noise.

Can anybody take the time to walk me through this?
No one at Midiman will pick up the phone, and I am stuck wanting to record with my new toy..

Thanks for any help in advance...

Village Idiot (Obviously..)

First off make sure you uninstall the old drivers before you install the new.....

Thanks,Gidge...

And in doing that will it effect any other programs i may need to run?

I'll hang in there pending your advice...

No, it wont....Im talking about the drivers that came with the card....if you installed them, just go thru the uninstall.....

from there, shut down the computer.....power it back up....

the computer should recognize new hardware....point it to the new drivers you downloaded.....if this doesnt happen, let me know......

About a year ago I was having trouble with my old Montego-II. It would't work either. I removed the drivers but still would't work.
I called support and they had me remove them in safe mode. After I did that and reinstalled the new drivers is worked. Just a thought.

Thanks, Gidge & Larrrye:

I'll give both your suggestions a go, starting with Gidge.

also, you may have to go in the Control Panel and remove it there also.....

Start/Settings/ControlPanel/System/DeviceManager/Sound System

click and highlight any of the items that refer to the Quattro, then click delete......

from there, go back to powering down the computer and bringing it back up......

Not really sure if this is just voodoo, but four out of five USB devices I've installed demanded it. It definitely won't hurt to do it this way anyway. When you do the installation of the drivers, be sure the USB cable is not connected. Then, after the installation and a reboot, plug in the device.

Thanks for the help, guys.

It looks like the driversare showing in the system/device manager view devices as type, but it will not show as view devices by connection.

Why is this?

Eagerly awaiting help for theIdiot that I am.
Thanks!
