Hi guys, i've never posted anything like this on here before but as part of my degree, i'm doind a little survey on the home recorders habits. Basically i'm trying to see if the age/era that the musician comes from has any effects on the instruments/tools/equipement that they use. If it's not too much bother, would you please complete the survey, there are only about 10 or so questions and they aren't intrusive at all. The link is below.

Thanks

Tony

Tony, I'm not a fan of corss-posting, but I went ahead and filled out your survey anyway. But I had some "problems" (for lack of a better term offhand) with it:

I didn't check anything for #3 because the "instrument(s) of main focus" depend entirely upon the song, the arrangement, the genre, etc. But KwikSurvey would not accept a skipped answer, so I had to select all of them.

While I checked "multi-track tape" for #4, I checked "computer" for #5. I'm not sure why only those who checked computer for #4 and not #5 are supposed to answer #6 and #7?

did it...but what about electronica for genre and synth for musical instrument...glaring error tsk tsk :)

oh yes and jazzwestafricanbluestechhouse fusion and the darbuka? this survey is not complete!!!

"other". ;) :)

this survey is not complete!!!

That's the trouble with most surveys...they are skewed toward particular answers and by a limited understanding of what the "right" answers should/could be.

Not to mention...the data from most can be “massaged” in more than one direction.

I chose “other” or “n/a” ….that should skew the results. ;)

I deleted all your other duplicate posts. Please don't post across the boards like that again. :spank:

Yes but not as many characters.:D How have you been Glen?
Been diggin' the new home away from home studio (Product Recording). Still putting it through some shakedown paces and still learning the new digital board, but last week the whole gang laid down some backing tracks in prep for a vocalist coming in. Both the live room and the CR sound pretty nice and are quite comfortable, and the team there are quite talented musically and production- and engineering-wise, so it's definitely been both fun and promising thus far.

I'll be going into full detail on the making and building of the place on my website as soon as I can sit down with everybody involved for long enough to get some better pics than I have thus far and some official interviews with the people involved. But for now that's enough off-topic characters for me for this thread ;). Thanks for asking though! :)

No problem Glen. Keep plugging away at it and I can't wait to see and hear all about the new place.:D

You can find some early pics from a couple of weeks ago here. It was still a little messy, and not all the gear was in yet, but it should give you an idea for now, anyway.

Sheesh kebab ! That was messy ? I wish my kids' room was as 'messy' as that ! :D
Well, I didn't take pictures of the real messes :o. There was still power tools and dust and fallen acoustic insulation and paint cans and all that crap all over. I just tried standing in front of most of it and pointing the camera in other direction ;).
