I'm not really good at reading instruction manuals and this one is no exception. I'm trying to import drum patterns from my Zoom drum machine into the Boss 1180. I have a MIDI line out from the 1180 to the Zoom MIDI in, and the stereo line out from the Zoom to stereo line in on the 1180. It worked, but not great. I had the BPM on the Zoom set at 146 but it recorded at 130 BPM which is what the 1180 was set at. How do I set the tempo/BPM on the 1180? And can I change the the tempo/BPM of a track/song on the 1180 after it is already recorded? Any help would be greatly, greatly appreciated. Thanks

I'm trying to visualize the machine, and I hope this is correct. If not, let me know and I'll try to explain it better:

To adjust the BPM on the 1180, activate the Rhythm Arranger by pressing that button, then press the Rhythm Arranger edit button. The screen will display a bunch of info, with the BPM near the upper left. Use the directional buttons to highlight BPM, then use the dial to adjust the BPM setting.

You can change the BPM of the rhythm after recording onto any of the V-tracks, but doing so will only change the rhythm tempo and will not alter the pace of the recorded data.

Hope that helps.

If i set it through the Rhythm arrangement, isn't that just for adjusting the tempo of the preset rhythm in the machine? Can I erase the preset arangements and add my own w/ a drum machine? How about the Loop Phrase Import button and features, can I use any of those functions to add rhythms and change tempos?

You don't need to erase the presets. You can create "User" rhythm patterns and arrangements. And you can adjust the BPM of imported loops. I've done that, but only once or twice and don't recall the procedure off hand. But I haven't tried running a drum machine into it.

There is a "Rhythm Arranger" supplement to the manual; it's way better than the original manual section on rhythm. It is available for download via the Roland website. Also, have you checked out the Yahoo group:
