Please help me pick the right power conditioner/preamp/compressor!
I searched the forum as best I could to make sure I wasn't creating unnecessary threads, but I didn't quite feel I could find an answer to my questions, so I'm making a new thread...
I'm expanding my recording gear and putting it together in a rack and need some guidance in this new area (for me--I'm usually just a musician)..
I have two Tascam DA-88s that I connect to a mixing console. Those will go in the rack. I am planning to buy a couple ART ProMPA II's for pre-amps, and a couple ART Pro VLA II compressors. Eventually I will figure out a reverb rack mount that I like and will add it to the rack, but I don't plan to have very many signal processors, just want to be able to keep sounds warm and add compression when necessary.
My questions are:
1. What's a good, reasonably priced power supply/conditioner that I can power all the rack components with? I've been looking at everything from Furmans to JuiceGoose to the Monster 2500, but I have trouble reading through the BS of advertisements and figuring out what is good (unlike my guitar and bass equipment, which I just plug in and see it pleases my ears)...
2. For the price, am I making a mistake in going with those ART pre-amps and compressors? They get really good reviews and are within my price range, but, again being new territory for me, I want to at least attempt to make sure I'm making a smart purchase here.
3. Am I leaving any crucial things out that anyone can notice or perhaps offer some advice if you think its needed??
THANKS!
