the Q10 really only has 8inputs...

it says 10 because it has 8 analog and 2 digital...

6inputs... the Delta66 has 6 but again 2 are digital so its really back to for again...

i just read that you can put up to 4 of aardvarks products into your computer... so you can get the 4 input one... then 3months later add a Q10 giving you 12 channels... then maybe even add another q10 giving you 20 channels...

I'd also check out www.motu.com they have very expandable systems... but they are $$. about the same as the Q10.

my experience, if you wait off and get audio gear thats the best off you instead of sacrificing for lesser stuff, you'll be much happier and will use it and keep it for years to come...

A big thank you to everyone, (esp. Slack) for their help on this subject.
After lots of reading, looking, and learning, I have decided not to purchase a mixer, and to give up the Audigy2 altogether and get an EGO_Systems WaMi Rack 192L. When I saw this thing, I thought it must be taylor made for my application! It has the 4 XLR preamps that I need, plus 4 more line ins (1/4"). And just in case I ever need more mics, I will purchase an Audio Buddy for those line ins. (Thanks, SLACK) :)
There are 8 1/4" outs, and 2 balanced XLR outs as well...not sure what I'd use those for, but I'm sure you all could tell me! (And it will cost me some more green once I know the answer :))
Plus, it also has the MIDI in/out that I need for the Studiologic.

Alrighty, that about wraps it up. I'm happy. Thanks for teaching a noob!

surely need a better sound card

You should look foreward any sound blaster...
I feel to suggest more qualitative audio convertors such as
Ego-Sis or RME or MOTU.. whit also preamplified line-inputs.

I apology for my english
