Hello everyone,

One more track and this time I am really struggling to make this sound good on laptop speakers (on my headphones and monitors the mix seems to be fine)... Bass causes the most problems, but also the keys and drums are not crisp enough.

Of course, feedback on other things is welcome as well :)

Are you using a drum sample/beat?

It didn't sound too bad. I think the bass can be high-passed a little because its a little boomy but not too bad. The keys stand WAY out front on the mix. I would bring them back quite a bit. Are you playing them off time on purpose? I don't think the tone of them is all that bad, they just need to be lower.

Drums are made out of two layers (kind of...). The main sound is just midi of Addictive Drums, but there is also a quieter MP3 track that I just took from one of backing tracks, probably from guitar, from youtube. For some reason they sounded good together :)

I want a laid back feeling here, so no accurate timing, but yeah, probably the keys could be a little quantized. I loved that brittle and a little 'off' sounding when I recorded and I wanted to keep it. I think it resembles one of those little music boxes you can find on book stores (and use a handle to play, hence the bad timing...)

Keys are the focal thing here, so it has to be louder than else, but will consider you feedback for sure.

Thanks!

Is it possible your laptop is mono and you've only listened in stereo? (Phasing issues?) just covering basics.

I like this new version much better. Sounds like it would be a pretty cool/fun backing track but it works pretty well as an instrumental too.
