Please Help I am a newbie

HI!!!! I am a newbie named, well I will go by the name DaftMixer for now. I was wondering, I want to make "daft Punk" kind of music and would like it sooo much and appreciate it if you sent me a list of all the matierials I will need so I could record my first session also. I have a mic, whats the thing (and where can I get) it that makes your voice kind of crakly and the thing that makes your voice robotic, thanks!!!! drumdude109
 
Its called a vocoder. There are several out there on the market now if I am correct, one of the coolest ones is the Electrix vocoder, I'm thinking they don't make them anylonger, but you can find them on ebay. if you are into DIY the company Paia makes a cool kit that sounds pretty good. The Roland 8080 has a decent one. Just look up 'vocoder' most anywhere and you might be able to pull up a decent selection.

The best I can say, Daft Punk-wise... you'll defintely need a beat box, something like a Roland Groovebox, or a Kord Electribe Module (EA-1 and ER-1 in particular), maybe a basic synth, something like a Yamaha CS1x 2x or 6x.... what's you budget like?

well, I would like to spend less then 300 dollars.

best bet for that money is to go to a pawn shop and it will still be hard to find so check several shops good luck!
 
A second hand Roland MC-303 would be a good start.
No vocoder there, but a drum machine, sythesizer and sequencer. You might find that for $300, so you can start making music.
