hey guys im trying to get logic 9 to record from my xenyx mixer via usb. all preferences are set up correctly but i feel like i might be overlooking a setting on the mixer maybe? the computer recognizes the mixer but wont pick up any sound. any tips? thanks

I don't have Logic, but did you make sure that it was selected inside the software? Do you see the meters jumping when it is armed? Make sure you understand how to tell the software to use the device and how to utilize the device.

Yeah i selected the mixer as my input in Logics preferences. same thing i do when using my audio interface. but the meters arent jumping at all when the track is armed. i just cant figure it out. im wondering if its maybe something on the mixer im overlooking? should be pretty simple...i thought

You have a USB mixer and a separate straight audio interface?
How come you want to use the mixer? I'm pretty sure it's stereo over USB, rather than discreet outputs.

Regardless, those mixers are usually billed as being live analog mixers with a USB extra option.
As such, there's usually a routing you have to enable - Something like 'main mix to USB' or whatever.

Can we assume that the mixer works as an analogue device?
I.e. you plug in a mic and headphones and you can hear that and the appropriate LEDs flash?

I have dldd the manual and quick start guide and neither give much away regarding USB set up and operation! I do note however that there is a lot of software you can download including drivers. Have you got all of this?

One can only hope that the software gives installation instructions. It would also seem that you need to use Asio4all?

In the first instance I would install and use the supplied recording software and if you can get that working move on to other. The mixer is quite a complex beast and I can see why you might want to use it but almost any other interface is going to be better than the Berry USB offering and so I would simply feed audio from that to the AI.

Dave.
