Hello

I purchased an EMU 1820m and am looking for a mic in the $500 price range for hip hop vocals... www.myspace.com/sadistik1 will give an example of my voice.

I was thinking between these two so far:

BLUE Baby Bottle
BLUE Bluebird

Any advice will be appreciated, thank you in advance.

Have you tried an SM58? I'm serious. I think it gets overlooked as a vocal recording mic because it is so common. But I usually put one up with a more traditional vocal condenser like a AT4033, C414, or SPC1 and record both, and you'd be surprised how often the 58 track ends up being mixed more up front or being the overall winner.

Use a pop screen like you would with any other mic, about 3 inches off, and you might be surprised. Not to mention saving $375.

But as far as male rap vocals are concerned, the only time I saw much of that recorded was when I was interning, and the chief engineer always used a C414.

Audio Technica 4050, Studio Projects T3, Shure KSM32 all come to mind.
