HI eveybody,

I'm a guitarist and I use to rec my songs using this equipment:

Guitars: Ibanez JS 100, a electroacustic Godin, a classic one, plus a terrible Bass Guitar I don't know the brand but it was for free...

Mic NADY SP2

AMp Fender Performer 1000

Software Cool Edit Pro and Midi Orch Plus for drum track

PC Pentium III 600, 384M-Ram, Soundblaster 128

According to you what i need next? I know most of these things are old but I'm saving money to change the equipment. What do I need to improve my sound quality?

Thx guys

I'd say you might need a better soundcard.......one made for recording.......I'd start there and then further assess what you might need.

Depends what kind of results you want. If you want to get as close to a professional sound as you can get you are going to have to start with getting a new card. If you are going to just make some demos for yourself, your band, your friends, or maybe even some local bars I think the sound blaster might cut it; as long as you know what you are doing. (although I'm not sure how old that model is) I have a friend who has a lot of top notch equipment, but he also has made some fairly decent recordings with a sound blaster. Sound blaster isn't pro audio and is primarly for gaming, so it doesn't have such a good rap around these parts and for good reasons; it's A/D convertors aren't what you would get from a higher quality card and so you lose something going to digital. Take the advice of people here, BUT in the end do what you think is best for you at the moment.

BTW, one thing you definately need is a mic preamp for that guitar and vocals dude!

looks familiar to me..

Hi Mapuche,

looks you got quite some gear stacked up there already.. good, buying new gear always gets your creativity and motivation peaking.

I would suggest your next item you could purchase would be a DAW, a small homerecoring studio, multitrack of course.

Hell, don't spend your last buck on the latest one, just keep your eyes open for some used gear, something that will let you record 4 instruments simultaneously, that way you soon will be jamming with your buddies and recording the whole thing. It's great fun, and good things will come from it.

Once you have mixed your song on the DAW, you can use Cool Edit Pro to import the arrangement on the computer.

>Just a suggestion, it worked great for me and I soon hook up with a band and we play gigs now, it's just that once you've got this gear, you want to use it to a maximum extent.

Hope it works for you !
