okay can someone explain to me this terminlology in layman's term, 24bit fixed vs. 32bit float? does it only benifit those with 24/96 sound cards? second question, i have a soundblaster audigy card which says it's 24/96, i don't know how true that is. in acid pro i have the option to record in 24/96, should i do this?
when i record in anything above 16/44 my timing is off on all my takes. example, i record a kick, then i lay the vocals to the kick's rhythem. when i play the vocals back it's off beat. what should i do?

Besides " mac vs. PC " , this is prolly the most heated debate on the audio net or at least right up there with " analog vs. digital "

how well dop you understand sampling theory ?

here is a good ( if lengthy ) place that tells the concept :

http://www.faqs.org/faqs/AudioFAQ/pro-audio-faq/

in your case, just record at 44.1k or 48k, 16bit

cool

thanx for the link, i won't be recording at 16 hopefully ever again. i have the lynxone on it's way in about 1 hour.
