jimistone!!!!

I wish I had a blues voice like that.
reminds me of one of the Van Zandt bros.
I liked the mix the bass was quite apparent.
Thje guitar sound is a bit muddy but it still works quite well.
I really liked the fadeout too with the guitar lasting a little longer in the fade.

I really was entertained by your efforts!!

jimistone,

You have a real ZZ Top feel going on this one!

I like it!:)

The mix is pretty smooth but bordering on the polite side a bit as in not a lot of grit and bite in the guitars and snare.

Otherwise, there not much wrong with this on a mix level here to complain about.

Very cool! :)

jimi, great vocals! I mostly agree with Ghost, I'd especially like the snare to have more punch, though this may go back to tracking more than what you can do in the mix
that's a small quibble though, it sounds good

thanks hevy and ghost,

I really think both of you have some fantastic music and I respect your opinion very much.

I agree the guitars need more bite...im gonna fix that tomorrow night.
also, I think i over processed the song a bit and like ghost said ...its too smooth

you can sing like that Hevy....put some phaseshift on those vocals!

I've been fiddlefarting around in the dragon cave too much lately....im gonna get back to listening to the stuff thats posted here and quit wasting time.
thanks so much guys
jimistone

thanks ssb....you post hit while i was typing this response

good effort jimi......yeah thats the smoking guitar solo i talked about in the Songwriters Forum.....:D good song and awesome performance......

if you handle the guitar/snare issues Ghost mentioned, youll have a winner......very good as is, but tweaking those areas will push it over the top..........

raspy!

wow great vox

groovin' blues, gotta love it

something is off in the timing

maybe the gtr?

keep rockin'

FUCK!!! That was nothing less than stellar.

Kick some ass...take some names.

Maybe one git clam got through...or maybe it was on purpose and maybe I'm just not musically sophisticated enough to get it.

Mix sounds like it needs some mids.

It sounds great, just as it is right now, it sounds like I'm listening with the big "V" on my stereo EQ...

good shit here.
Chris

Thanks gidge, elephant, and chris

I worked on the mix today,,,,,but messed around and got tore up and didn't finish.

got the bass guitar sounding a little tighter, the snare popping properly, took some bottom end off the rythem guitar, put some bite on the lead guitar (also got rid of the delay on the solo), and pretty much left the vocals alone.

It rocks now!!!

all I have to do now is do the auto mix and dither it down to 2 tracks in stereo.

I will post it when i get finished

Thanks so much for taking the time to listen guys, and also thanks for the help on the mix.

jimi - is that you singing? The voice, it sounds familiar, like maybe I've heard you before, but something about this is making me think that I haven't.

Anyway, if that's you singing, you've probably heard this your whole life, but I'll add that you have an amazing character about your voice. That's one of the most HONEST sounding vocal tracks I've ever heard in here. I love it.

Sorry to get all girly on ya', lol.

yeah thats me singin' chris. You heard me when you reviewed "sons of sons of rebel sons"
(the outlaw country song that pissed everyone off because of the content)

Thanks for your kind words on my vocals. I basically hate my voice to tell you the truth, I have no range and can't hit the high notes that i want to hit....and it pisses me off.

the only reason I sing is to play guitar. I do okay as long as I stay in my limited vocal range I guess.
thanks again
jimi

Liked the voice, the performance, the feel too.

The mix...well...can you say compressed into cotton submission.

Take that compressor off the 2 buss or T Racks out of there or whatever is softening the sound. Open it up some. The cymbals are not sizzling. I would suggest just using more of the sound spectrum, you have truncated the highs, maybe its the MP3 conversion. Just taking some random shots here on why its so midrange narrow band.

That kick needs some volume and focus to push the song.

I think you have good ears middleman....
I had a multi-band limiter (that I don't know how to use properly) on this mix. When I was working on the mix tonight I took it off and it "opened up the sound spectrum". It sounds alot better without it.
Guess that proves the old saying "if it ain't broke don't fix it"
thanks

very nice stuff. To hear it raw would probly be a lot more kickin and very dynamic. Needs some backbone from the snare and kick to support it a bit more.
Don`t worry about not singing like Elton john, you jus do Yo thang..... like you do Yo thang..... and it`ll be alright :)

You're David's buddy. I remember now. Thanks for the refresher; I'm getting senile.
