I've been asked to help with this MP3...

I received this file:
Original MP3

and here's my work:
Repaired MP3

If you can't stream, then here's a link to a download page (NTT Original and NTT Mix04):

Take me to the woodshed but please no critique of the tracking or performance. I believe there was some guitar gating and I have no clue what was involved during tracking and original mixing.

Thanks,
Keith-

Oh Yeah! One has to listen to the original first to appreciate what you did. First of all, it's now louder but seems LESS compressed if that's possible. Guitar is alot fuller and doesn't have that annoying too-much-attack on it. Just enough reverb on the track now to make it barely noticeable but adds depth. It's actually a good song for that kind of tune, even though her and 3 million other female vocalists sound exactly the same these days. You did a great job on it considering the horrible guitar tracking you seem to have had to work with.

well thanks RAMI...

yeah it is louder, hopefully you adjusted your listening volume

any annoying frequencies remaining or still too much guitar picking attack?

thanks again...

I find I can live with the attack on the guitar for the most part in your re-mix...but in the bridge it just seems out of control. But it doesn't seem like there's much you can do about it without totally killing any brightness.

Good work in the repair. The guitar's much less piezo-ish, and the vocal's less sibilant. I'd think any more processing would take away good qualities as much as bad ones. The fixed version reduces the negative aspects enough that the song's enjoyable to listen to. Not so the original. Only so much you can do IMO. Care to detail what you did exactly?

Man, you made it so much better. I think the fixed version actually sounds prety nice, but wouldn't have finished listening to the original, except to compare them. Good job.

Geeze... thanks guys

I think the main helper was Vintage Warmer... It really tamed the Highs and brought out the mids. I can't say enough about the plugin. It layed the foundation. It can smooth and it can mangle...

Here's the plugins I used on the Buss in this order

Vintage Warmer
Mix Bass
MasterComp
Pristine Space
MasterQ

So, did nothing immediately strike you that needs additional adjustment?

Thanks again,
Keith-
