Ok all of you I have read like every post on the internet about multitracking and now I am close to making the plunge. I will be recording drums, bass, guitar and vocals, thats it no keys no midi. I will be using the pod pro and the bass pod pro as my preamps for the guitars. The question is what recording system to get. I am pretty much set on using my p.c. (p3 500mh 128mb).

Here are the choices:

The New Digi 001 for windows.
-i am worried about the bugs many have experienced

A MTU (not motu) system.
-i hate the limited inputs and i am unsure about overdubs (anyone with experience with this please advise)

A MOTU 1224 or the 2408 w/ cubase or logic
-well some say that the above 2 software progs sound better. also there is the added cost of the software.

I know I only listed the bad things but I wanted to let you know what was bothering me about each system. They all have real good points too. I just want to get the best sounding system I can. Ok please help me.

Thanks,
Robi

The min I HAVE to have is 4 for the drums. The drums are the most inputs I would likely needrecord at one time. Although it would be nice to use more on the drums I dont have enough mikes and well I am a bit of a minimilist anyway.

I will mixdown to my cd-rw.

I do not know if MTU is full duplex or not I was hoping to find someone who has used it to give me some guidance. Although even if I get one of the others I will most likely use a small digital mixer to cut down on latency.

Oh btw MTU has a web site at http://www.mtu.com (although its tough to navigate)

I expect this setup to enable me to record drums, bass, and guitar (although not all at the same time). Then mix it all down and burn it to a cd and make mp3's. I want quality but I realize at my skill level (newbie) I am the biggest factor with that. And that is what makes the digi 001 look good. Its cheap and if I need to scrap the whole thing once MTU gets its act together with their promised 24 I/O breakout box. I wont be hurting too much.

Thanks for your help so far.
