Playing recorded CDs on cdrom

I recorded MP3 music files onto a CD-RW disc (as a data files). The CD will playback in the CDrom of the computer I recorded it on, but will not play back on my PC (mine is 3 years old). My CDrom will not recognise the CD. Is there some way to update my CDrom driver files, etc. to recognise this CD so I can play the recorded CD?

Some CD-ROM's don't like reading CD-RW media, and sometimes CD-R media, even the brand can make a difference. Does this machine recognize just normal write-once CD-R media? If so, I would I just burn it onto CD-R, their cheap enough.
