Playback Volume fading

Hi, I've been using Cakewalk for a year now with no prob. I have a Haffler ta1100 and KRK monitors and a Audiophile 2496 card. All on a XP system. What just happened was when I record a guitar track through my J-station, the level is fine, but when I go to put a second track down, the playback is not loud enough? Playing CD's or mp3's are not as loud either.
Any help?

Check your settings in the mixer panel for the 2496
