G'day,
I first posted my problem here https://homerecording.com/bbs/showthread.php?p=2442627#post2442627 in the soundcard forum but I suspect Audition 2.0 may be party to blame for the play back probs I'm having.....
Someone in the other thread suggested I may have messed around with the buffer settings, but I can't seem to find them in Audition.....I've been all thourgh the audio hardware setup but my card seems to have a set buffer size of 2028 bits per sample or something.....
I feel so deflated I was meant to be starting to record a rough demo for myself today but instead I've been tearing my hair out with bloody technical probs haha......Any advice would be muchly appreciated!
thanks so much in advance,
Matt

What soundcard do you have? Are you using the correct drivers for Audition 2.0?

I believe 2.0 uses ASIO so it should be your default drivers on any 24/96 soundcard.

However, I haven't upgraded to Audition 2.0 because it's a resource hog, and uses uneccessary HD space by saving all files regardless if you want them or not. So I can't speak too much on 2.0 and how to go about certain things like adjusting the buffer settings.

You can choose what device and what drivers are you going to use.
The best for AA 2.0 is to run ASIO drivers BUT if your card doesn’t support them you’ll get trouble with it.
Go to Edit/Audio Hardware Setup.
You can chose different drivers for each AA view. Concentrate first around multitrack view:
You do record in this view. Don’t you?
If your card is cheep and doesn’t support ASIO then choose Audition windows sound.
There is an option Release ASIO driver in background. DON'T check it!

Then you go to Control panel. This panel is (I suppose) different for different kind of cards.
Anyway you should be able to change your buffer size (Samples) by clicking on its number.
I don’t remember reading about your computer configuration which is also important for this kind of adjustment.
Anyway bigger buffer size will improve playing back. On the recording (input) side you should chose smaller buffer size to avoid latency while recording.
This one is depending of your computer power, RAM and speed and if you try too small buffer you’ll get into the trouble again
Sorry for my English but ask again for parts I did not clear up or made them even worse.
Good luck!

ah k cheers i'll give that a go.......
the card is a cheap piece of you know what but i managed to get it for a bargain and i thought it would be at least a little step up from what i was using before (inbuilt motherboard soundcard) anyways its a creativer audigy....
My computer spcs: Athlon XP 1.6 ghz......512 RAM......
I'll have a look at it tomorrow when i'm not so tired hehe but thanks so much ay really appreciate it!
cheers :)

A cheap piece of shit? Is that what you're trying to say? (The moderator of this forum doesn't mind rough language if it's abuse-free.) :D
