Hi,

Being new to this PC thing I have a question. I have Cakewalk Home Studio 8 and when I record digital audio, the track records whatever I have playing back along with the track I'm recording. (ie MIDI drum track and metronome record on the same track as a guitar when I want to just hear them as a monitor and not record them onto the digital audio track). Do I have something set wrong in the program or is this a shortcoming of home studio? Or perhaps a sound card deficiency? I'm using a soundblaster live value if that helps. I'm pleased with the sounds I've recorded, but I just wish I could get them on single tracks all by themselves. Thanks.

I had exactly the same problem a week ago. Look back and see the thread. But AlChuck is right, you need to go to the Microsoft Volume control (small yellow speaker bottom right hand corner) right click, open volume controls > Options> properties > Recording > and then check all the boxes and then >OK. Then make sure your MIDI is de-selected. This will prevent MIDI being recorded at the same time as your audio.

Let me know how you get on.

Paul
