Playback Problems

Hey,
I am kind of a newbie. I've had cakewalk 7 for ages now and am only starting now to use it. Ok i am a drummer and i have plugged my mixer in with all my drum mics in and i have a recorded a drum fill and it sounds great. So i have recorded that into track 1 and now in track 2 my guitarist wants to record his part to the song so i do the same thing but when i press the record button it will record but we can't hear track 1 so we dont know where we're playing and when everything is. Does anyone have any ideas on how i can accomplish this task. who ever can solve this i will be incredibly greatful.
The attachment also is a screenshot of what my screen looks like when i try to record the guitar.

Cakwalk 7??? That's like ancient history.

Try looking around in the menu's for an option that says "allow simultaneous playback and recording." In Cakewalk 9 it was in the Options > Audio menu. Not sure about 7.
 
Might also need to enable this setting for your sound card's driver in Window's control panel.

Also yeah it is pretty ancient. I might get the newest one. Probably 9 i think thats what my friend has anyways thanks a tonne
