When recording, does having the pitch control maxed out on your portastudio offer better fidelity? I have heard that keeping your pitch control cranked to increase the tape speed can hurt your multitrack. Can anyone confirm this?

I doubt it will hurt the portastudio but there really is not enough audible difference to warrant a maxed out pitch knob, which should be used only as its intended purpose.

TIP: Boost the high frequency EQ a bit when going to tape (when playing back make sure its at neutral though). You'll have to experiment which exact frequency to zero in on and the amount. Try 10 khz. Many times, less is more. :)
