I know this has to have been answered. But did a search in several forums and really did not find an answer.

I have access to quite a bit of round pipe insulation. FREE!n Four and six in. diameter.

It is rigid fiberglass. But can i use it to make traps?

Could you you arrange it tightly and make corner traps? Like bowing pins..in a tri angle then cover them . Does that make sense?

Or maybe somehow make a wall panel.

Any suggestions? will it work or should I just pass?

It is the same material, yes it will work. Besides, it's free.

I'm pretty sure it will work. It is rigid fiberglass. You'll have to peel the paper backing off of it though. Otherwise the backing will reflect the majority of the sound you are trying to absorb.

Well, there you go....Good thing I started my post with this:

Join the crowd. This stuff gets deep real quick.
And from the OP I don't think anyone knows exactly what he's trying to accomplish.

If the stuff is like 3# density he’s probably better off rolling it out and making some broad band absorbers, you know the ubiquitous picture frame style.
4” should roll out to about 12” and the 6” to about 18”, perfect.

Wonder how thick it is?

I say try it and see if it works. If it does tell the rest of us about it, if it doesn't warn us so we wont try it. Who knows, you might come up with an inovation that can help a lot of people. Since you can get it for free all you stand to loose is the time you spend experimenting.
