Okay so I can do pinch harmonics I don't find them too difficult. However I was listening to Evanescene earlier (YouTube - Evanescence - Bring Me To Life (Video)) and they sound completely different, my question is how do they get that is it a different type of pinch harmonic or normal and with a floyd rose, or the amp settings making it sound a lot different.

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks,

Those are not pinch harmonics. You pick the string and partially mute it. Sort of like half of a pinch without the harmonic.

He also tunes the guitar down as low as C sometimes, try that.

I don't hear anything I would consider a Pinch Harmonic in that song. Point to a time in the song.

Between 1:29 - 1:34 I mean i always thought they were pinch harmonics but if not I guess I'm wrong.

I don't think that's a guitar part you're hearing.

I think what you're hearing is a muted harmonic.Kid of reminds me of the muted harmonic on sex type thing from STP.Try a natural harmonic on the low E at the 2nd fret about 3/4 of the way on the fret.Almost on the 3rd fret marker but not quite. If you have a small dot on your fretboard(not the usual bigger dots or markers but a small one when looking down from the top) try a harmonic between that dot and the 3rd fret .

I'm pretty sure you nailed it mcmetal. Natural harmonics on the 2 1/3 fret or so. Lots of volume, lots of gain. It's a natural harmonic 3 octaves above the low E string (the song is in E, standard tuning).
