here's my garadge.
i built thoes "gobos" they act as a divideing wall or a 4X4 vox booth (dead as hell in there, even with the plexi) made from Lows

yes, thoes really are my preamps.
modded that rack too, eccept the dmp3 you can turn the entire thing upside down, and it's on wheels.

the hi fi speakers are something i got from a thrift store for 50$ (mission 770)
they hear lower than my tannoys, and are probably a bigger help than you think.

that my dog, sleeping (ain't he perdy)
thats about it, everything you've heard from me was done with this.

You haven't seen me when I take over my whole house to record my band. Drums set up in the living room, guitar amp in my bedroom, bass player cooking in the kitchen, vocals in the hallway, assorted leads going everywhere, and the mixer and computer in the computer room.

Best done when housemate isn't at home.... or at least when she's not hungover

I think the proper slang for your setup is "bootleged" or "ghettoed" or "trailer parked." Pimped implies cool and gaudy.
