These are 2 recent pics of my home studio!..The vocal booth is 4x6 and completely "dead" with 2" wedge accoustic foam. The mic is a MXL V69 Mogami Edition. This mic is great!..I had a Neumann TLM103 and a Rode NTK, and neither could touch the V69!! I run my vocals through a Avalon 737sp, and track with Sonar 5..Monitor with 8" Behringer Truth Monitors..I get great sounding tracks with this setup, and ALOT of tymes my mixes come out sounding like the quality of "major" artists!!

foam

hey wuz up..ALOT of people talk very negative about this foam, but I got all my foam from foambymail.com it works great!..dispite what people might say about this foam, my booth is COMPLETELY "DEAD", it works great 4 me....

May I ask why you say your booth is completely dead?

I know it's not as crucial for vocal-only booths, but have you tested the room's response over a range of bass frequencies?

It looks really good. :) Keep the pics coming.

These are the absorption coefficients for 1" foam. The other thicknesses are listed on their site as well. Judging by just that information (which you should never really trust) it looks like your pretty covered in the highs and high mids, but you should be having serious problems in the bass frequencies. Of course its a vocal booth right? So hopefully the people you record have pretty high voices.

thanks 4 the reviews....i use my booth strictly 4 vocals, and i have had all kinds of vocals come threw my studio..absolutely dead..no echos, no nothing, just plain dry vocals..i add any effects i want later..i agree this indeed may not be the best foam available on the market, but i can honestly say it gets the job done very well 4 me..thanks

whats your chain signal

into, oh I don't know, maybe Behringer Truth monitors?

sorry, couldn't resist.

Btw

I don't think most people are as critical of this foam for deadening a makeshift vocal booth, it's when it's used as a total room treatment for monitoring that's more of a problem. Granted, it's not ideal for a vocal booth either, but this is home recording.

And you say completely dead!?! Vocals have 500Hz, and that coefficient is awful compared to the highs. It'll do for home recording, but you cannot say it's completely dead. I'd at least put one bass trap in though, or mount the foam off the wall/build a frame with the foam in and place it behind the mic. Looks good though, but it'll be awful if there is a fire!

That sounds like a threat!
