Hi guys,

I have a MIM Strat for a couple years now, I play mainly blues/rock to hard rock-based music ...Lately, I've been seeking for a more sustain, warmer tone but still retain some Strats' clean/glass-tone (without the hum also!) :D ... So, I think my strat would need a make-over ... I've been looking for a set of pickup, among these:

1. Lace Sensor Hot Gold
2. Texas Special
3. Lace Holy Grails

Any thoughts/advice are much appreciated ... Thanks.

Regards

dude, i've been milling over the same thing for the last couple of weeks and here's what i've discovered.

the best pickups for the strat are most likely the lindy fralin vintage hots. BUT, they're gonna cost about the same as the damn guitar is worth.

the next would probably be the texas specials, BUT you're gonna get hum.

i put some dimarzio stacked pickups into a mim strat a while back and i'm very pleased. i used the hs-3 in the bridge and hs-1 in the other slots. i've heard that the virtual vintage are really nice also and can be had on ebay at a great price.

good luck.

6gun - Thanks for the input ...

Hmmm... I certainly don't want to spend a lot of $$$ on the pickups .. I figure a set of listed p/u would cost me around $120 (plus installation - since I've never done any mods before) ...

I didn't know you'd still get the hum from TS ... I've heard of Dimarzio p/u but don't know much about them... Are they easy to dial in ??...

If its a single coil, its gonna hum (maybe a TAD less)......even if they are $500

TEXAS SPECIALS!
