pickup covers....help

i bought a SD JB and JAZZ combo pack, in black. i'm thinking some chrome pickup covers will polish them up a little bit, they look a little dull.


my question is, what is the proper pole spacing, and do i have to wax them once they are on, or will i be all set just hot gluing em on?

Measure the distance between the centers of the outside two pole pieces: it will most likely be either 1-15/16" or 2". Order accordingly.

The covers are soldered to the base of the pickup. Use a file to remove the plating on the inside of the cover where you will be applying solder, and have at it.

I much prefer the look of covers. I bought the same pickups you have, but in the MF "Silver" set, which come with chrome covers and gold pole pieces.
 
i wouldve gotten them with the covers on, but SD only makes them in nickel, whilst the rest of my guitar is chrome. a little picky a guess, but nickel has a little browner tinge to it than chrome.

Yeah, nickle looks yellowish,and chrome is blue...I didn't realize the covers weren't chrome until you mentioned it, but the Sheraton II has gold hardware so it's not obvious.
