Why you gotta be so mean?
I'm mastering a cd with: 2 guitars, bass, piano, drums, voval...... I usally pan the guitars hard left and hard right, but I'm not sure what to do with the keyboard. It's in mono, only had one out. Should I center it or center one of the guitars, or what? When it's in the center it kinda makes everything sound bad. Any help would be awesome!

Thanks,
Aaron

well if everything sounds bad when it's panned to the center, then i think you answered your own question.

But I don't know what to do, should i bring the keyboard to right right with the rhythm guitar? Should I center the rythm and put the piano in the right?

without having the session ourselves, it would be impossible for anyone on here to give you a perfect solution, but maybe pan the guitars hard left and right and bring the piano to like 2:00 or something, and the bass over to 10:00. experiment. if it doesn't work, try something else. maybe some eq might be called for if you have too much happening in the same panning space. like i said, i have no idea what any of this sounds like so i'd have a hard time giving you any hard, fast advice...

What you are doing is mixing :)

If everything centered sounds bad, then I think your issues lies in EQ, not panning. As mentioned by others, it's impossible to give you an authoritative answer, but we can guess, and it soulnds to me that the piano is fighting for space with the other instruments. Try cutting the lows to see if it is fighting with the kick and bass, maybe cut some mids to see if it is fighting with the guuitars/vocals.

Generally, I try to make my stuff sound good all panned to center before I start panning. Then I know I have taken a step towards a reasonable mix.
