Hello 'vrybody,

I was wondering if anyone of you out there has or has had a go on one of these and can give me a little advise.
Im about to invest in a midi controller and i do like the Novation ReMOTE but cant help admitting that the built-in audio interface the Alseis photon X25 has is something to consider for that price.
How reliable is the Alesis tho, durability-wise and whatnot? (or the Novation for that matter?)

Well, thats good for starters.

Talk to you soon,
Ness

I like the Novations. I've only used a photon once, and I definitely like the whole XYZ ball concept. As far as dependability I really can't see where that would be a factor here. Alesis and Novation both make pretty reliable equipment. I'm not to keen on 2 octave controllers though. Obviously the Remote (and X-Stations) are going to give you more options, but you'll also pay considerably more. I'd say you can't really go wrong with the photon. I'm guessing you are looking to hook this up to a laptop (The principal reason they started putting audio interfaces in controller keyboards)? If not, I would consider a dedicated interface and a larger controller. Although in this price range, the Alesis probably has the best feeling keyboard (Better than my M-Audios).

K, thanks for the info; cant say i knew the Alesis keys were beter than the novation's.
However, i got to thinking yesterday ... i do have a yamaha keyboard, so i looked around for a controller with only faders and buttons and came across the Edirol UR-80 - with audio and midi interface.
Any users/ owners?
