Phonograph record to .wav automatically?

Hello All,

Does anyone know of any shareware or otherwise which would allow me to play a phonograph record connected to the computer soundcard then be able to play the whole record at once - and have the software separate out the different songs into separate .wav files which I could then burn onto a music cd?

Hello Mr. Payne. To begin with, you will not be able to hook your turntable direcly to the sound cord. You will first need to run it through a phono pre amp. Your receiver should have one. The next thing is that if you have a cd in your computer, you should have some sort of recording software already. Lastly, if you want to record whole albums, you better have a vary large hard drive. You will also want to do each song seperately. Don't try to record it as one long song. The size of the file will be astonomical.

There are a few more things to consider a harddrive that will accomodate your recording mine is a 5400rpm and doesn't always record wav files without errors. I have found that MusicMatch Jukebox gives enough buffer to accomplish this but isn't always perfect you will have to do some adjusting. You can set it up to do a song at a time but you will need a preamp as stated so that you can be close to your turntable to raise the needle or quick on the mouse to catch it between songs. Also It doesn't edit and you will need an editor. There are a few things I have found out even with an editor unless your LP is in Very Good condition you will have to edit the heck out of it giving you another problem. Processor noise and background noise from your turntable. I have logged quite a few hours trying to get a real good recording but have only succeded with fair about the same as a cassette. Good Luck
