Hey guys,
I was thinking about buying a Philips cdr-770 for mixing down and stuff. . .a friend is selling a nice mint one cheap! I really don't want to use my computer to mix, . .

Does anyone have any experience using this model. . .I heard that they can be a little temperamental, . . also how is the playback quality-- will it playback store bought cd's as well .. ?

What other types of used, or new consumer stand alone cd burners are out there, that are any good? Thanks in advance!

I have the Phillps CDR775 and it SUCKS, that's why I'm converting to PC burning, 1st it's unbalanced, and the volumes are sometimes off, from one song to the next. If that's what your budget allows then get it, it also has a little noise that's audible. I would recommend the Sony w-33 model, of course the Alesis masterlink, tascam has one also. I just like more options like a digital fade in/out, like I said, if budget allows then get the 770 for now.

anyone else, wanna chime in, . .?

what about the pioneer PDR-555RW. . .?

If that's the Phillips series that you need special blanks for, I had one in the late 90's and it sucked. I remember it as being a Phillips 870, but...

Be sure you have a good source for the discs it uses before you take the 'dropping the dosh' plunge.
