Can anyone give me any feedback on the Phillips CDR-775 (or related models). I bought one about a month ago to mix down to from my BR-8 (which I love!). Been having problems with the CDR, and would be interested what you folks have to say, pro or con. Thanks!

Sorry. But IMHO, phillips sells crappy cdrs.
What problems are you experiencing.

It actually may have been my fault...the disk wasn't finalizing (tried three different brands). BUT...I think it may have been because I put the CD-R on top of my receiver...there's a line buried in the manual that says, "Warning: Always place reciever on top of CD-R!".

Do you know if my mis-positioning of components would have caused the finalizing problem (due to magnetic fields or something?). I'm not a tech-savvy guy so any ideas would be of help. Thanks!

This is just a guess, but the reason that they want the receiver on top is because the amplifiers in the receiver get hot, the heat rises, the CDR will get hot, and the receiver cannot disappate (sp?) the heat as well.
Personally I don't think the heat would be the cause of your finalization problem. I think they're trying to protect you from overheating the receiver. But this is only a guess.

Anyone else???!?!?!?
