Phase scope Question pt 8 le

I was mixing a track with pt 8 le and I was learning about the phase scope. When using it, does the little green ball suppose to stay in the middle, to the right side or the left?
 
I use the phase analyzer only to match L and R level (sending a mono test tone to both channels the phase analyzer shows a vertical line if levels are perfectly matched) when using stereo outboard in a mix.

The meter section is a bit small for me.
I prefer to use the free Massey HR Meter.
