Alright, the Tascam m-1508 which is currently winging its way towards me is apparently (by design) lacking phantom power.

What unit should I get to supply p.p. to mics that require it. I'm looking for an inexpensive but decent quality solution.

Thanks guys --- I know you'll be able to help me out of this bind. :)

Yo Satchmo. If you are a DIY'er, guys here will be happy to provide you with schematics. If not, it depends on how many condensers you want to use simultaneously. For one mic, Rolls PB23 works OK. $40 at eighth street. PB223 is the same deal, 2 channels, $55. If you need more than 2, buy a mixer with phantom power and stop screwing around.-Richie

Thanks Richie. I won't be needing more than two, I don't think. :)

I have the ART dual mic unit I think cost me 50.00 bucks and runs on two 9 volts
or an optional 12 wall wort.
Works very well and seems to be built well. They also make a single mic unit.

Here's a two channel cutie from Samson about 50 bones.
