Phantom Power mic

Concerning the DP-02, I can live with the way the unit handles a "normal" mic, when recording vocals.

But the unit also has a Phantom Power ability.

Has anyone noticed when using a mic with Ph Power that the unit is more sensitive to vocals that way, than when not using Ph Power?

I just have a SM-58 , but if I thought I'd get better results with a Ph P mic
I'd invest in one.

To clarify this:

Phantom Power provides a bit of current to mics that need that to operate (condensers.)

It has nothing inherently to do with recording levels or anything else; it is a design, a type of mic.

Now, you most likely will find that a condenser mic is more sensitive than a 58 (because most of them are) so in that sense you are on the right track, but it is not BECAUSE of the Phantom Power, it is because of the type of mic it is. The PP simply enables it to work.

Marshall, Cad and other large-diaphragm mics (among the cheap ones) will be more inherently sensitive than your basic dynamic Shure 58, which means you will also hear more of your room. Keep that in mind if you are in a noisy environment.

I do recall seeing people go back and forth on whether to go through the DP-02 with a mic and just mix the volume lower on the music or run the mic through a slightly powered mixer first and then into the DP-02.

Of course, if the easy solution was to JUST use a mic with PP, that would have been suggested in the owner's manual AND on the board here.

Thanks for the head's up on the "more of your room" if I go that way.
Because I'm at home with 3 big dogs, I'll just make sure to tell them to keep the barking, howling and scratching loudly, to a dull roar...lol.
