Asked this in Newbie and thought I'd try here.

I was recording a singer and he said, Can you give me more vocal volume in headphones. I said HUH?

How do I do this without raising recording level. Can someone give me a procedure. Seen in done in big studios. I would think my tascam 1082 would have a per channel monitor level button. My old crappy 4 tracker had that.
It would raise any channel you wanted to hear higher without making the track level hotter. Is there a trick with this? thanks

Does your Tascam have multiple outputs? If so, buy a really cheap little mixer. Run the outputs of the tascam into the line inputs of the mixer, and use the mixer to create the cue mix for the vocalist. That way you won't have to change input/recording volume.

I have my Pres going into my Delta 44 inputs, which I setup (the Delta inputs) to get re-routed to the outputs, so I have my two microphone signals essentially split into my PC and then individual channels on my Mackie mixer. As such, I can control the levels on the mics during tracking INDEPENDENTLY of the signal being recorded. I can also add reverb to the headphone mix without it being recorded.

Not sure if any of that can be used with your Tascam setup.

I'm not a fan of any all-in-one units. My setup is fairly modular with each piece only doing one thing. My pres are seperate from my A/D-D/A converters, which are seperate from my monitoring system (Mackie 1202 VLZ Pro, Tannoy Active Reveals). This gives me alot of flexibility, as well as the ability to upgrade components easily when I have the $$$$$$$.
