Ableton is doing this 24 hour beat the clock contest where you have to make something using sounds they provide.
I thought it would be cool, easy, and fun to try and put something together. Much more difficult than I thought it would be.
8 hours on a laptop with it through headphones :( since i thought it would be quick and easy. Nope. No way it's even making top 100.
It's not really mixed at all, but I thought we could use an extra track in here regardless :D

Anyway.
Here it is. My first complete production in a year :laughings:
And it's not the usual alt metal. Idk really know what it is. I wanted to make a prog. house track, or liquid dnb. But I don't know much about Ableton as a program yet so everything took way more time than it takes me in Cubase. If you've got a soundcloud account, why not give it a vote :D
Ableton - Beat the Clock

I'll look forward to licking my wounds once I wake up ;)
 ZZZZZzzzzzzz....

And if you've got time, check it out yourself.
Get the frial trial of ableton and the sound pack. Listen to those weird sounds in there.

Oh cool, thanks!
I still haven't listened to the export :p
Sitting in front of sounds you dont like for about 10 hours straight burns you out big time

EDIT: what was I thinking with that lead synth ?!

That's an interesting contest idea.

I may... uh... enter myself and try to defeat you?
However, I'll at least feel obligated to use my one SC vote to vote for you.

The ending of your track seems a bit abrupt.

**edit**

The top 25 entrants will be asked to hand in their Live Sets, so we can take a look under the hood and judge techniques.
Hmmm... I'd probably get DQ'd when they found out that I did most of it in Reaper. :D

I was way too lazy. I didn't even route the drums properly :(. They were just a single track out from maschine.
I was aiming for a 6 minute track, but after having no inspiration I was like ":cursing::yawn:"
And I was  that I was missing the Diablo 3 launch.
So I turned down the volume real quick like and exported :D

The sounds they set you up with aren't as inspiring as I thought they would be :(
And ableton's built in instruments weren't too inspiring either.
Definitely a cool concept though.
I say enter! I'll set you up with a vote :D

In the end I learned a bit more knowledge about ableton and like it even more. But yeah. I was tempted to cheat in Cubase ;) I experimented with some pitch shifting and timestretching of their sounds in Cubase. But scratched it after I felt guilty :laughings:
I also learned that 12 hours isn't nearly enough time for me to make something.
But still, cool to do something away from the usual.
