I've read that XP Home does NOT support dual processors. I had assumed that a dual core CPU would be seen by the OS as 2 processors, but I was told that the OS sees the processor, not the cores..

Anybody running a dual core on a XP Home system? Anything else I should be aware of using XP Home for a DAW? (I know the networking limitations of XP Home)

Home does not support dual processers so presumably it will only use one core for everything. On a PRO it will show up as a multiprocesser system and assign processors accordingly.

Using home with the D is a waste since it will negate any advantages of the dual core. Beyond that, XP home is fine for all DAW stuff (I just built a D based system btw)

FYI, you can buy a new copy of XP PRO on evilbay for about $120

Support yes but does it take full advantage of it? The whole point is to have the OS manage the processor scheduling and AFAIK thats only available on XP PRO
