peavey vcm 1 microphones

Hi to all,
Has anyone had any luck with this Peavey mic in recording percussion instruments? I would be using this mic as an overhead in our music room to record my sons audition performances for college. Any thoughts? This mic would be used as a supplement with others going into a mixer and by itself for practice sessions.

That should do an alright job. I assume you are just trying to capture the cymbols mostly with those as you indicate you will have other microphones.

I use the PVM480 a lot as overhead microphones. It is a traditional pencil microphone.
