B Bodhisan Hillbilly Sep 13, 2004 #2 I've never used it, but my first thought is that is has a maximum gain of 55 db, and I know that when I use my pres, which have 60-72 db of gain, often I use that last 5 dbs of gain, and 55 would just be a little too short for my use.

It's 24V. Between that and the +55dB gain, that would rule out some condensers, ribbons, and LD dynamics. I also saw one review that it was noisy. Still, for $130, it's tempting to buy & see if it's upgradeable at all. I might just have to do that.
