Alright... our studio's got one of the aforementioned PVM mics as the main vocal mic. I've been ebay-shopping for some new prospects, and I've been looking at the MXL v67, an MXL 2001/603 package, and a few others (of which i have currently forgotten >_<). Anyways... I've always kinda' doubted the peavey we have, but i haven't had much else to take up against it, really. My mic experience is a bit on the lacking side.

Any ideas?

If it is a Peavey 520i, they are not bad mics. Unfortunately, they do better on bass drum or bass cab. I am sure they could be used with success on a screamer male singer. It might not be the first choice on a female singing a ballad.

I have one and it's an excellent vocal microphone for many vocalists IMHO.
It's not as "hyped" as the Shure Beta's, if that helps as a comparison, yet will cut through a busy mix.
Offered mine, however, to one of the BBS members as it doesn't suit my specific voice (a bit sibilant) as some other choices.

You may want to get a microphone with a flatter response pattern to complement it-many choices out there.

no, it's a 520TM. is there a difference between the two? I mean, a serious difference?
