I had read a few things on this mic a while back.

One of the things I read was that this mic was acceptable for miking kick drums...

Do you guys have thoughts on this?

I have this mic and it is awesome. It is one of those mics I can just stick in a bass drum and have it coming out perfect with no EQ about 85% of the time.

This mic is supposed to be good for many other things like bass cabs and even for voice overs. It has been compared to the EV-RE20 and the Sennhieser 421.

The was a tape-op article on this mic and others too a few years back. Get one but don't pay too much. I got mine for $109 shipped from Lentines Music. The only problem with this mic is that it is hard to find online.

Very good dynamic microphone.
