I just bought a Peavey Patriot at a pawn shop yesterday for under 100 bucks, and I wanna' know more about? Anybody know where I can date this sucker?

The guitarist in my band has a Patriot that I've knocked around on sometimes. I even used it on a recording session, but ended up re-recording the part on a early '70's P-Bass. It's definately a good quality instrument that can yield some very convicing P-Bass tones.

As for dating, did you check the Peavey website? They can probably help you more than this site can.

I've got an old Patriot laying around here. Got it in the early 80's. Ash body, maple neck, pretty good guitar actually.

Yeah, it's the guitar, not the bass...I love it! It's my second guitar, my first being a Squier Strat(I know, I know...), and it's awesome! I just cleaned it up and set it up and it plays beautifully! I'm just kinda' curious 'cause I want to know more about it, I know it's from the 80's, it's got two humbucker sized "Super Ferrite" pickups, 23 fret maple neck, a butterscotch/yellowish colour and a black/white/black pickguard...any info would be greatly appreciated...oh, and if anybody knows where I can download the manual, please post it...thanks all : )

Thanks Tim! The manual helped a bunch...hehe..."Military Grade" pickup selector switch...who writes this stuff? Anyway, any info on dating it would be awesome, because I've exhausted just about every resource on the web I can think of...oh, used it in band practice today, this baby is sweet! When you roll off the tone it's real jazzy and really hollow, good for clean haunting arpeggios, and when you keep it all the way up, man, this thing has tone! For being older than I am, it's held up amazingly! The neck pup is dark and gritty, the middle is great for all purpose or bringing out harmonics, and the bridge has bite by the busload! It does need shielded though, but that's just a can of paint and a couple hours of coating the body cavity, so no biggy...thanks all, and if you find one of these in a pawn shop and are looking for an awesome metal guitar or just a solid backup, this axe has it all! : D

I'm not familiar with them but if the neck is a bolt on try removing it, Fenders are dated in the neck pocket.

Just out of curiosity, can anyone tell me where these are currently manufactured?

I've heard both India and Vietnam.

I don't know, aren't all the cheapies made by Samick now in Indonesia and then re-badged? Just kidding.

Tim

The plate on the back of the heel where the neck bolts on has a number, and there's a number on the headstock, but I need to know what to do with them...mine says made in U.S.A..., I can't fault this guitar for anything except the little hum, which is pretty much a given with any guitar, which is an easy fix...

Try contacting Peavey. Their website says their tech staff can be contacted through their forum page.

Most of Samick's production is now in the PRC. They don't manufacture guitars in Korea any longer, so I suppose Cor-Tek is the biggest one still left there.
