Addled but happy
I have the registered version of nTrack and have used it for a few songs so far, but I'm wondering why, when I add compression to a track, the peak file for that track doesn't change? It still looks the same no matter what I do to it. According to some basic compression articles I've read, the way the wave file looks is supposed to change.

Does this have something to do with the non-destructive editing option?

The only time a peak file will change is if you apply destructive editing to the wave file.

Adding a compression plugin to a track only changes the track's sound as it is playing back in realtime. This is of course the most common and desirable way of applying effects and is non-destructive.

So, it's desirable since the original wave file doesn't change, only in the way it plays in that particular song file, right?

Thanks, Slack!
