i have FIVE different sound cards for my S4+ rack synth. i actually use all the cards
quite a bit so i am CONSTANTLY plugging and un-plugging cards from the slot on the
front panel of the S4. my greatest fear is bending the pins inside the module and thus
being unable to insert ANY card. i would like to construct a simple adapter for the S4
that i could plug into the synth only once. i could then install/remove cards from the
adapter without fear of damaging the synth. i guess i'm picturing a "dummy" card
with a ribbon cable including a "receiving end" for the Qcards. i really don't know where
to begin. i'm not sure if a device like this exists or is even feasible. any tips or
suggestions would be most helpful. thanks.

Some how I can't see how this would help more than hurt. Any adapter card that you rigged up would have to have the Qcard external to the slot on the synth (you couldn't fit the Qcard into an adapter that fits into the slot intended for the Qcard. You could probably rig something up with a ribbon cable, but would it be worth ther time and efort?

I'd suggest visiting the Alesis site, going to their parts page, and just order an extra card slot to keep on hand in case you damage the one on the synth.

I love the idea, in fact it would be great aftermarket product for all pc card samplers and sound modules. A half rack-space, eight card bay, that was switchable via midi control...

Oh...did I say that out loud?

Never mind,

Steve
