hey i was thinking of getting a motu 828mkII soundcard, but know i'm debating because u heard somewhere that pci cards are way better that firewire. Is this true, Is a pci cars gonna give me way better results.

pci is better, but...

if you are into mobile recording then firewire is better.

PCI's throughput is better than firewire, and firewires architecture and sustained data throughput rate is better than USB.

I just sold all of my PCI based gear for the Tascam FW-1884 which is firewire, because my need for mobile recording changed.

I am a big believer in PCI, unless you ABSOLUTLY need Firewire for portability. There may be more compatability issues with Firewire, research your intended purchase to death to determine what the manufacturer and users have to say.

i'm 100 per cent with wheelama.
this is a home studio bbs. and in my opinion there are far more important matters to worry about because todays delta sound cards or phase 88
as examples are way lower noise than when studios used 2 inch tape machines to do big selling albums years ago.
as has been said on here many times gear is a small component.
the song and how you engineer it is whats important.
i think someone even did a hit using a sb sound card that had lots of radio play. although i wouldnt use one.
this year its rme or lynx for me unless something better and cheaper comes out. also i think due to rapid tech change one sgould be carefull blowing tons of money on convertors. it'll only take one motherboard manufacturer to put decent convertors on its motherboards with a few ins and outs
to change the market dynamic.
mad flows you can get sound cards as cheap as 100 bucks that do 24 bit.
check out tracertek.com for one vendor and there are many many others.
staudio.com is another. maya mk2 even has 4 inputs. but you must check compatibility with your pc configuration/chipset.
what pc confign do you have ?
