Flypaper for freaks
Hi all,

I have a Tascam DM24 board and want to establish digital routing to my PC.

The Tascam has ADAT in/out that I want to use for storing/retrieving digital tracks to my PC.

What I would like are recommendations of PCI cards, sound cards, whatnot that will give me 24 bit/96khz ADAT. I am not interesting in analog IO, I hasve that covered - I am just interested in digital IO to/from the Tascam.

Thanks in advance!

I use a RME Digiface to accomplish running ADAT signals into my computer via a PCI slot. It might be overkill for you though.

Check out other products from RME. They have an excellent reputation as a company and you'll probably find something that will work great for you.

(or if you really hate yourself, I'll sell you my old ADAT PCI card from Alesis for cheap.)

Third for RME card. I use the 96/52 with 3 ADAT optical i/o.

And I don't think it'd be overkill. That DM24 is a pretty serious board.

The funny thing is, I have a Motu 2408 MKII, but I cannot get it to work on my AMD Athlon 2400+ system runnign XP - I get an error stating that it the PCI-324 card isn't recognized.

Maybe I should check out the RME cards......

go there

I would go to the computer recording forum elsewhere on this site. Just start reading, there's an abundance of information out there on an infinite number of setups that all work in their own way for people. Don't get me wrong, there are certain products you should never buy and some that you should consider first. Just make sure that you don't jump into anything too quickly, it's VERY complicated as you probably know!

Happy hunting!
