Is anybody using PCDrummer with Cakewalk?

I have been recording just vocals and guitar until now, with Home Studio 9. HS9 is old, but it works ok for what I want to do. Now I'd like to add drums. Nothing complicated, just a simple drum sound, mostly kick and snare, but a live sound.

I have tried the demos for PCDrummer and Fruity Loops.

If anyone is using PCDrummer with Cakewalk, I would appreciate knowing how it's working out for you.

Of course, if there is a better program out there for a simple drum sound, let me know. I've kicked around on the boards and was able to find only one reference to PCDrummer, so I'm worried that means there's not much interest in it.

I never try PCDrummer. However I live happy doing all the beat using Piano Roll View, MIDI drums either using my external synth, SoundFonts, or DXi. CWPA 9 doesn't support DXi, but you still can work with the two (If you have SB Live!). Or, you can do the loop. Yeah, Fruity Loop is cool somehow. I fire it up (rare) when it comes to Loop based songs. Or... you can search this Cakewalk forum to find the drums thingee topic. It's one of the most discussed here :)

Agreed!

51pegasi, if you by any chance should have a SB Live! or Audigy, you should look into SoundFonts. The name is very describing. It's sounds bundled into a file you load into memory and you play the sounds back via either a midi-keyboard or the Piano Roll (or whatever).

Thanks for the input, James and Moskus. I appreciate the information.
