I have been surfing these 3 suppliers for a new laptop. A comparison of their prices are as below :

PC labs : $ 1985
ADK : $ 1781
RAIN : $ 2309

The specs are almost the same for all.

15" screen, 2.7 Ghz i 7 (except PC labs has 2.0), 8 Gb DDR3, 120 Gb SSD (Rain has 256 Gb), Win 7 64 pro.

What do you recommed. I am taking Rain out for the big price difference so the choice is PC labs or ADK

Just one more question :-)

Almost the same specs are being offered by Sony/lenovo also, I just checked them but there will be more, but the price is half almost 1200 or so.

For home recording with 7-8 max tracks is it advisable to go the Pro way or these will serve the purpose as well

If you really must do this on a laptop, I would recommend first factoring in the support option included in those prices, and then leaving yourself enough headroom in the budget to add a big, fast external hard drive, a good cooling pad (that laptop's probably gonna heat up pretty quick), a powered USB hub (your interface and external drive will want the direct ports, anything left over you'll probably need the hub for) and I really recommend buying an external monitor for when you're at home. I know some people use their DAW on a laptop with no problems, but it's something to think about - sometimes even my 23" monitor feels too small.

Edited to add: Any of those laptops should do the job barring any defects. Whatever you get, you'll probably want to do a clean Win7 install immediately to eradicate any manufacturer-added crapps.

So I have these follwing alternatives, all spec being same, difference being the hard drives and screen size, what would you chose.

ADK 15", 1 750 Gb HDD, $1696
ADK 15", 2 750 Gb HDD, $1911
ADK 17", 1 750 Gb HDD, $1826
ADK 17", 2 750 Gb HDD, $2041

PC Labs 15", 1 750 Gb HDD, $1930
PC labs 17" is way out of budget, starts 25K or something.

Thanks
