PC 100 RAM and SDRAM?

I think I'm narrowing down my search for a soundcard, but in doing so, I have found a few more questions. cards like the Audiophile 24/96 and TerreTec say you need 128MB of PC100 RAM to record at 96khz and 64MB of SDRAM to get 48khz.
My PC has 128 MB of RAM. That's it. I read it in "My Computer". What's the difference, if there is one? I have a gateway pentiumIII 550mhz, 10G computer, if that helps.

You probably have 128 MB of PC 100 SDRAM, which is sufficient.
 
Heres the Big Deal..... do some online searching or goto bestbuy, and you can get 128RAM for like 20 bux. pop the money, your computer will love you forever.

You definatly have SDRAM (Synchronous Dynamic RAM). Whether its PC-66, 100 or 133( these are bus speeds), It might be on the RAM chip, or in the PC manuals somewhere, but you might have to call Gateway with you serial numbers, Its probably PC-100 though. Memory is still rather cheap right now(128MB $30-60), but its going back up in price (why...Im not sure yet), and more memory makes a HUGE difference when working with Music Software, so you might want to bump that up.
Most SDRAM nowadays is fully compatible with most PC's, but it can still be a hit and miss endevor to replace RAM, so keep the receipt.
 
yup, you probably have sd ram...ddr is too hi-tech for a gateway system...rd is more for p4 and edo went out in the stone age...
 
Just buy another 128 meg DIMM and you are set.

And if you can't find PC100 anymore, you can buy PC133, it will just run at the slower speed.
